‘Mac an Bheatha’ le Fíbín chun dul ar stáitse – Mac an Bheatha produced by Fíbín to be staged in Connemara and Galway City
{:ga}Tá Fíbín ag cur an dráma Macbeth le William Shakespeare ar stáitse ag deireadh na míosa. ‘Mac an Bheatha’ an t-ainm atá ar an leagan misniúil seo atá á stiúradh ag Philip Doherty. Beidh sé seo ar an tríú dráma atá léirithe ag Fíbín ag an gceanncheathrú nua in Indreabhán ó d’oscail muid a ndoirse i mí Lúnasa na bliana seo. Beidh an seó ar siúl chomh maith ar feadh cheithre oíche i Printworks na Gaillimhe, taobh le hoifigí an Connacht Tribune.
San insint seo ar scéal Shakespeare, tagann scata fíor-náisiúnaithe foréigneacha le chéile i gclub oíche faoi rún don scéal seo faoi dhúnmhárú, ciontacht agus díoltas a léiriú. Seo hé Macbeth á shamhlú as an nua ag Fíbín mar ghig ina dtumtar an lucht féachana isteach i ndomhan uaillmhianach gan dlí, áit nach labhraítear ach Gaeilge amháin.
Le tairngreachtaí triúr cailleacha punc-miotail & griogadh a bhean chéile (Liz Fitzgibbon) fáisctear an drochfhuadar atá istigh san saighdiúr seo, Mac an Bheatha (Lochlann Ó Mearáin) chun ceannaire an rialtais nua a mharú chun an chumhacht a thógáil uaidh.

Má chaill sibh amach ar an dráma deiridh le Fíbín ‘House Party’, féach blaiseadh dó anseo{:}{:en}Fibín will stage a theatre production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth at the end of the month. ‘Mac an Bheatha’ is the name of the protagonist in this daring interpretation directed by Philip Doherty. This will be the third theatre production by Fíbín since opening the doors of their new headquarters in Inverin in August of this year. There will also be four performances in Galway’s Printworks building, beside the Connacht Tribune offices.
This telling of Shakespeare’s tragic tale is set in the secret club of a gang of ultra-violent nationalists. A story of murder, guilt and revenge is radically re-imagined by Fíbín into a dread-filled immersive gig, where only Irish is spoken, and ambition is infinite in a lawless world.
Will the prophecies of three punk-metal witches, and the goading of his ambitious wife (Lady Macbeth played by Liz Fitzgibbon), prompt a rebel soldier (Mac an Bheatha played by Lochlann Ó Mearáin) to kill the leader of a new government, in order to succeed him on the throne of power.
